Write about what you know. I’ve taken this advice to heart, creating characters who live in small towns and plots that unfold in the great outdoors.I grew up in Gasquet, a tiny town in Northern California, where as kids we swam in the river, ran wild in the woods, and rode our bikes every-where we wanted to go. Now I live in Tahoe City with my husband, two daughters, and dog, Ginger. When I’m not busy writing or being a full time mom, I enjoy taking Ginger for hikes in the woods around our home.Whether I’m writing romantic suspense, contemporary, or historical romance, I try to bring the beauty of nature to my stories.I graduated from U.C. Davis with a double major in history and creative writing. Though I’ve worked in both the restaurant and ski industries, I never wanted to be anything but a writer. After many years of pursuing my passion, I’ve finally achieved success, proof positive that dreams do come true!

Publisher: Lyrical Press

Ancient rituals. Up-to-the minute deception.

Reporter Taylor McWhorter knows something is going on at the newly reopened uranium mine on the local Navajo reservation. The Native workers are being fired. Rumors of bad Native American spirits and shapeshifters mingle with the stink of leach pit mining. The rough red mountains and steep canyons hide more passes and getaway trails than any maze. And Taylor’s sources keep turning up dead…

Until she meets Captain Trace Yazzie, head of the tribal police force and plenty to reckon with on his own. The chemistry between them is enough to incinerate Taylor’s rule about mixing business and pleasure. But with a murderer on the loose, priceless Navajo artifacts turning up in the wrong places, and Trace’s suggestion that spirits disturbed from looted burial sites might be part of the problem, Taylor can’t afford to lose her head to lust. This might be the story of the year. But unless she keeps her wits about her, it could be the last one Taylor ever tells…

TWO FAMILY HOME_FINAL jpgTitle: Two Family Home
Author: Sarah Title

Lindsey Alford moved to Willow Springs, Kentucky, to prove to all doubters (mostly her parents) that she’s all grown up. Something her neighbor Walker Smith never questioned—those short shorts of hers!

Put a cute single girl with an overactive imagination next door to a reclusive hot guy, add in a decadent blue velvet sofa, a locked garage and a nursing home full of busybodies, and trouble is bound to pop up. Literally, in the form of an adorably naughty stray pup with a longing for two people to lick and a home all his own.

Love isn’t complex…it’s a duplex!

Praise for Sarah Title’s work:

“Quite a sexy book.”  —USAToday.com on Kentucky Home

“The funny, down-to-earth characters who fill the pages are wonderfully sympathetic and their chemistry is delightful, but it is the added dose of magic featured in each story that lends this book its unique charm. With subtle flair, Foster, Monroe and Title walk the narrow border between genres to great success.”  —RT Book Reviews on Delicious (4 stars)

“I hope there are many more from this author.”  —My mom, in her Amazon review of Kentucky Home

Ruby Lee Tuesday was born to be her father’s property. Tuesday shares a heartbreaking story of childhood trauma as she bravely pursued her dreams, despite living with parents who seemed determined to destroy her, both physically and emotionally. While providing a riveting look into the ways of an abuser, Tuesday details how her mistreatment eventually caused her to lose her faith, embark on a path of self-destruction, and succumb to panic attacks and depression. But through it all, Tuesday somehow managed to find solace and an escape in her music, ultimately leaving everything behind and bravely following her dream all the way from Norway to Nashville, Tennessee, where she would find faith once again. Better Believe is a story of determination, passion, betrayal, friendship, and hope as one woman journeys from the darkness of abuse into the light of healing where she learns to believe in herself for the first time.

A summary of the memories of a past
It was a summer day in 1979 that this baby child was born. She resisted and twisted for two weeks, and when she finally came, her forehead came first. She was nearly strangled by the cord around her neck. The doctors took her and ran out of the room. She never connected with her mother and her mother never connected with her. Her surroundings were wild. She had a sister and later on got a brother. They were all raised in different parts of the house, Isolated from one another. The house was haunted, and her room reminded of a prison cell. Besides from a tiny window in the roof, there was no light coming into her darkness. Outside her window was the dark and starlight sky. She cried at night wondering why. Why she had to live above the deadly living room. Voices and hatred made the air stand still. She had no will- of her own. She was born to be her father’s property. He was full of hate. And the little girl hated his ways. She carried love within her heart. And she created art. She made a song to prove them wrong, and then what happened would not be as bad as it was good for nothing, not as long as she made a song or a poem. Those little victories she hid in her head and rarely talked about. That way no one could mess it up or take it away from her.
Day in and day out she was living in fright, all alone in her prison cell in hell. She was destined to live to tell. In the meantime she tried to be good in these mean times. Cold hearted beatings from the man with the iron fist. He handed her bruises and memories of a life in risk. A living hell, she could tell that her virginity was already taken when she entered first grade, 1st grade and a few hours of getaway from the haunted house, her haunted home. She did her very best. Only perfect was nearly good enough for the devil. Driven by hatred, she delivered. She can remember how she lost contact with her body. Her mom and dad twisted her hands and twisted both her arms. They divided her wholeness by pressure to her joints. Being disconnected from herself she stopped drawing, could not feel her own fingers. They were twisted away from their original position. She would turn cold. Never thought she would get very old. And here she is this very day. She cried her pain away and is finally releasing all her disappointments. Post traumatic stress disorder and panic attacks is what the devil ordered so many years ago. She is now 35 and stronger than ever before. And in her mind is a wish for the best for the rest.

Ruby Lee Tuesday has spent years on healing both physically and spiritually. She is a poet, singer, and songwriter who plays a variety of instruments. Ruby left Norway in 2013 to pursue her dreams in Nashville, Tennessee. This is her first book.

Within a Captain’s Hold by Lisa Olech Cover Reveal!

Within a Captain's Hold Book Banner

WithinACaptainsHoldTitle: Within a Captain’s Hold
Author: Lisa Olech
Publisher: Lyrical Press

Captain Marcus James has plundered many things since being plucked from the sea and signing on as a pirate, but never a woman—not even one foolish enough to draw a weapon on him.

She was as dangerous as a lit cannon and couldn’t be more bad luck ‘less she had an albatross hangin’ round her neck.

At the end of the 17th Century during the Golden Age of Piracy, rule and law and social restrictions are the standard of the day. Even aboard a Privateer’s ship, the Articles signed by all crew members are the law of the sea. So what if the Captain violates the most steadfast of all rules and hides a woman aboard?

When the Scarlet Night pulls away from her fog-shrouded dock, Captain Marcus James fears nothing. With a Letter of Marque and Reprisal in his pocket, even the King’s noose is no longer a threat. An unknown danger lays in the hold of his ship that jeopardizes everything he’s fought for, including his life. Her name is Annalise.

Lady Annalise Gatherone isn’t your typical pampered aristocrat. She’s intrepid–and desperate. The blaze that took her family lit a fuse that pushes her into a frantic decision to save her life. In London, a murdering, lecherous Duke wants a new wife, and he’ll eliminate anyone who stands between him and Annalise. A Privateer’s ship is her only chance to escape to Port St. Maria and safety. Her plan would have been perfect if the Captain hadn’t changed course–and found her hiding place.

Understanding the Economic

 Understanding the Economic Basics and Modern Capitalism
Author: Dan Blatt

Publisher: iUniverse

Pages: 558

Genre: Business/Economics

Format: Ebook/Paperback

Purchase at AMAZON

UNDERSTANDING of the economic successes and failures of the past century and today begins here.

Dan Blatt, after almost a half-century of accurate published economic forecasts, examines history’s most important economic works. He shows why capitalist market mechanisms successfully raise billions out of poverty and why socialist and other administered alternatives flourish briefly and then collapse.

UNDERSTANDING begins with the basic texts:

An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, by Adam Smith;
The Principles of Political Economy and Taxation, by David Ricardo;
Capital (Das Kapital), by Karl Marx;
The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money, by John Maynard Keynes;
Capitalism, Socialism, and Democracy by Joseph A. Schumpeter.

The analysis is readily comprehensible for college level readers and busy professionals. The style facilitates speed-reading and scanning but with liberal inclusion of quoted material covering the key ideas and most famous passages.

Understanding the Economic Basics and Modern Capitalism is your source for rapid familiarity with these basic works and the reasons for the repetitive failure of current economic policies.

Dan Blatt, a graduate of Brooklyn College and Harvard Law School, has been working for or writing about government agencies and policies for more than fifty years. His track record of accurate published economic forecasts began with the prescient book, “Dollar Devaluation” (1967). He is the author of “Understanding the Great Depression” (2009), and currently publishes “Futurecasts online magazine at www.futurecasts.com

Wilma Counts

Wilma Counts spent her formative years in Dora, Oregon, a location Germans would call a “dorf” since it was not, at the time, large enough to qualify as even a village. This was in the age of “Leave it to Beaver”, though television reception was not available that far out in the boonies. She attended high school in Myrtle Point, a logging-farming town twenty miles away. Later, she attended what was then known as Oregon College of Education in Monmouth, Oregon (now Western Oregon State University).

Armed with a BS degree in secondary education, she taught English for six years in Oregon (Bend, Astoria, and Gresham). Then she joined the Department of Defense Dependents’ Schools (DoDDS) in which she taught English, world history, and U.S. Government to military dependents, first for one year at the Navy base in Guantanmo, Cuba, then on an Army base in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and finally on an Air Force base in Ramstein, Germany. During this time, she also earned a master’s degree in International Relations from Alabama’s Troy State University. With the troop drawdown in the ‘90s, she seized the opportunity to retire early and returned to the States.

During her stint with the DoDDS, Wilma taught all levels of high school English as well as social studies classes, but most of her work was with 12th grade students. She was English department chair for several years. She especially enjoyed working with students in Advanced Placement English and U.S. Government classes—as well as working with those in the Model United Nations program. For about ten years she traveled every January with groups of 20-30 students to the International MUN conference in The Hague, The Netherlands. She loved her students (almost all of them), but found grading papers to be pure drudgery. She was twice nominated by former students to be included among Who’s Who in American Teachers.

Model United Nations trips was not her only travel with groups of high school students, She also led study tours to England, Russia, Czechoslovakia, Italy, and Tunisia. An exchange program with a school in Ivanovo, Russia, led to two important developments: (1) a humanitarian aid project that ended with American military communities in Germany donating nearly 80 tons of clothing and foodstuff to Ivanovo two years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and (2) the Russian school’s involvement with Model United Nations which has since expanded to include schools in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Wilma has also traveled widely on her own: England and Scotland; most of continental Europe; India and Pakistan; Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia; and just a touch of the Far East—Burma (as it was then called), Hong Kong, and South China. Lots of weekend getaways to France, Belgium, and Luxembourg and The Netherlands. Travel remains a keen interest, though largely of the armchair variety in recent years. She plans a return trip to Germany next year.

You can take the teacher out of the classroom—but not for long! Shortly after retiring from DoDDS, Wilma took a part-time position teaching classes in freshman English at Western Nevada College in Carson City, Nevada. At the same time, she realized a life-long dream of becoming a published writer. Eleven Regency novels and two novellas (all with Kensington) are closely linked to her love of Jane Austen’s work. In addition, she has a novel set in WWII, In Enemy Hands, born of her love of modern European history. She is among the contributors to the ALWAYS LOSTexhibition (currently touring nationwide), a tribute to the sacrifices of men and women who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Today, Wilma devotes her time largely to writing and reading. She loves to cook, but hates cleaning house. She has never lost her interest in literature, history, and international relations. She spends a fair amount of time yelling at the TV. She maintains contact with many friends from each of those lives mentioned above. She is an active member ofLone Mountain Writers in Carson City.

She considers herself to be the second most computer illiterate person in the universe, but she loves hearing from friends, former students, and readers at wilmacounts@att.net.
